This skull belonged to a Globidens, a genus of mosasaur known for its distinctive, robust teeth. Unlike other mosasaurs with sharp, conical teeth suited for capturing slippery prey, Globidens had rounded, bulbous teeth adapted for crushing hard-shelled animals like ammonites and turtles. This specialized diet highlights its unique role in the marine ecosystems of the Late Cretaceous period. Globidens reached lengths of up to 20 feet, making it a formidable predator in its ancient oceanic environment. This particular specimen was discovered in the rich fossil beds of the Niobrara Formation in Kansas, USA, and dates back to the Campanian stage, approximately 80-70 million years ago. The skull has been meticulously prepared and is mounted on a custom-designed iron stand, emphasizing the remarkable detail and preservation with only minor restorations. This is a high-quality specimen, far exceeding the numerous replicas and lower-quality fossils available on the market. It would be a significant and impressive addition to any serious fossil collection or museum exhibit.

The Moroccan Mosasaurus
The Moroccan Mosasaurus is a fascinating marine reptile that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 82 to 66 million years ago. Fossils of these formidable creatures have been predominantly found in the phosphate deposits of the Oulad Abdoun Basin in Morocco, a region renowned for its rich and diverse fossil record.
These Moroccan mosasaurs were apex predators of their time, possessing long, streamlined bodies, powerful paddle-like limbs, and strong, muscular tails that enabled swift and agile swimming. They had massive heads with jaws filled with sharp, conical teeth, perfect for seizing and consuming a variety of prey, including fish, squid, and other marine reptiles.
Moroccan mosasaurs are notable for their exceptional preservation, which has provided paleontologists with valuable insights into their anatomy and lifestyle. Their fossils are highly sought after by museums and collectors worldwide, offering a glimpse into the rich marine ecosystems of the Cretaceous seas that once covered what is now North Africa.
